Bing Hodneland is a well-established law firm with history dating back to 1897. Formed through the merging of Advokatfirmaet Hodneland & Co DA and Bing & Co advokat- og konsulentselskap DA, Bing Hodneland provides a comprehensive range of services to businesses, public offices and private individuals in all areas of law.

Approximately 25% of its clients are located outside Norway.
The purpose of the merger was to integrate the key practice areas of ICT, intellectual property and media law for clients who are used to innovate and competitive services provided by prominent local or international firms, retaining the personal touch offered by small and medium-sized firms. Bing Hodneland continues to provide legal services in real estate, construction, employment, tax and duties (VAT) and dispute resolution.

The team comprises 30 attorneys and legal professionals and offers its clients quality legal advice on a range og legal areas at competitive rates. The team works to attain in-depth knowledge of clients’ business environments, providing first-class legal solutions. Within its fields of expertise, Bing Hodneland also has developed and maintains a good network of lawyers in other jurisdictions, and can coordinate legal assistance throughout the world.

Areas of practice

Bing Hodneland is structured around six integrated departments: Real Estate and Construction, IT and Media, Tax and Duties (VAT), Employment, Dispute Resolution, Mergers and Acquisitions. Each of the departments comprises industry-focused units that combine the knowledge of the firm’s attorneys.

The IT and Media department comprises a range of successful specialists with outstanding reputations and experience. The ream comprises specialists with in-depth knowledge of intellectual property (in particular copyright, design, trademarks, broadcasting and domain names); ICT (ICT contracts, internet and e-trade law, marketing, media regulator, privacy/personal data regulations and telecom); and defamation/freedom of speech.

The real estate and construction department provides services in all relevant areas, and assists construction companies, consultants, contractors, property developers and property owners. The team comprises the top-ranked specialist attorneys who are the preferred choice for several property developers, construction firms and developers in Norway.

The tax and duties (VAT) department offers comprehensive legal advice in all business areas, with several attorneys specializing in the oil and gas sector. The department includes top-ranked specialist attorneys with both national and international experience.

The employment department provides assistance to employers, employees and organisations regarding legislative employment issues, employment agreements, dismissals and resignations, tariffs, pensions, HSE issues and employment-related privacy issues. The team comprises experienced and well-regarded attorneys.

The dispute resolution department includes some of the most experienced litigators in Norway and has acted in a number of high-profile cases. The department continues to expand its litigation, arbitration and mediation services for both commercial and private clients in Norway and internationally.

The firm also offers high-quality legal advice in mergers and acquisitions and has a vast experience in this area, including in the establishment of foreign enterprises in Norway.
